The Notes app has also been enhanced with SmartScript, a machine learning-driven feature that enhances the readability of handwritten notes while preserving their original style, similar to offerings from Samsung and other Android OEMs.
In iPadOS 18, Apple is introducing a new floating tab bar that hovers at the top of apps as a shortcut and can transform into a sidebar. This feature, available as an API for developers, simplifies navigation, integrates contextual menus, and enhances document search within apps.
iPadOS 18 will also include updated home screen and app customization options from iOS 18, along with a revamped Photos app. For iPads equipped with the M1 chip or newer, Apple Intelligence will be available, offering features such as prioritizing notifications, summarizing information, creating images, and an advanced Siri assistant.
The final version of iPadOS 18 is set to be released in the fall of this year, with the developer beta launching today and the public beta becoming available in July.
