On the fourth day of the prestigious race meeting, King Charles and Queen Camilla led the royal procession. They were accompanied by their close friends Lord and Lady Bamford in the first carriage.
Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, as well as Lord Frederick Windsor and his wife Sophie, were in the second carriage. Sophie, also known as Big Suze from Peep Show, is the half-sister of Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman.
Dame Darcey Bussell, a former judge and dancer from Strictly Come Dancing, joined the procession with her husband Angus, further connecting the event to the popular dance show.
Today, King Charles and Queen Camilla are hoping to turn their luck around after a disappointing day yesterday. Their horse, Hard to Resist, will compete in the Sandringham Stakes as a 50-1 longshot, making a win seem like a miracle.
Yesterday, their horse Gilded Water performed poorly in the King George V Stakes, a race that had brought them their first victory at Royal Ascot last year. Despite the setback, they have invited several members of the royal family and close friends to enjoy the racing, including the week’s main event, the Gold Cup.
Among the guests are Princess Anne and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, as well as Anne’s daughter Zara Tindall and son-in-law Mike Tindall, who will be watching from the royal box.
