Throughout the day, the exchange rate hovered between 278 and 279/$, before closing at 278. Open market rates remained between 278 and 281 across various currency counters.
The PKR experienced a bearish trend and ended the day in the red against the greenback. It also posted losses against all other major currencies during today’s trading session.
On a day-on-day (DoD) basis, the rupee depreciated by 0.02 percent, losing six paisas to close at 278.62 against the USD. For the fiscal year so far, the rupee has weakened by 0.12 percent.
The rupee also ended lower against several other major currencies in the interbank market.
It lost one paisa against the UAE Dirham (AED) and the Saudi Riyal (SAR), and eight paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD). The rupee depreciated by Rs. 1.28 against the Euro (EUR) and Rs. 1.52 against the British Pound (GBP). Additionally, it lost 48 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD).
