Shab-e-Me’raj observed

LAHORE : Muslims of Pakistan and across the world observed ‘Shab-e-Me’raj’ – the night of ascension with reverence on Wednesday. Special prayers were held in the City mosques to seek Allah’s forgiveness, blessings and peace and prosperity of the country.

‘Shab-e-Me’raj’, also known as ‘Shab-e-Me’raj-un-Nabi’ and ‘Laylatul Me’raj’ is celebrated on the 27th night of the Holy Month of Rajab to recall the journey of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to Me’raj.

At the mosque of Al-Aqsa, which used to be the Muslims’ Qibla before the Holy Kaaba, Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) led the former Prophets of Allah (AS) in prayer and then ascended to heaven to meet Allah Almighty.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) went on a special journey to meet the Creator of this Universe Allah Almighty, crossing seven skies on the heavenly animal named ‘Al-Buraq.’

During the journey of Me’raj, the command for five daily prayers (Salat) was also given to the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
