Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced on Sunday that rising left-handed batter Saim Ayub will travel to London for urgent medical treatment, as reported by Geo Super. The decision was made after discussions with medical experts to ensure an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment for Ayub’s injury.
Naqvi personally reached out to Ayub to inquire about his condition and wished him a speedy and complete recovery. He emphasized the importance of providing the necessary care and noted that Ayub would be examined by top orthopaedic specialists in London.
An appointment has already been scheduled at a leading hospital in the UK to guarantee the best possible treatment for the young cricketer. Dr. Mamreze, who has been overseeing Ayub’s treatment in Pakistan, has sent the player’s medical records to London for further assessment.
Naqvi commended Ayub’s dedication and reiterated that the PCB would offer full support during his recovery. “Saim Ayub is a talented and remarkable batter, a valuable asset to Pakistan cricket,” said Naqvi. “We are committed to doing everything we can to ensure his full recovery. He will be flown to London on the next available flight from Cape Town, with Assistant Coach Azhar Mahmood accompanying him to look after his well-being.”
The injury occurred during the opening day of the second Test against South Africa in Newlands on Friday. While fielding, Ayub lost his balance while attempting to retrieve the ball, resulting in the injury. An MRI confirmed a fracture, and his ankle was placed in a medical moon boot, which has ruled him out of cricket for at least six weeks.
Despite the setback, Naqvi remained hopeful that Ayub would recover in time for the upcoming Champions Trophy in Pakistan. “The PCB will make every effort to ensure that Saim receives the best treatment and rehabilitation possible,” Naqvi assured.
