In a chat with former South African captain AB de Villiers on his YouTube channel, MR. 360, Babar expressed his appreciation for the valuable advice he has received from these top players. “I often converse with Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, and Joe Root. They are always willing to offer advice, which has been incredibly beneficial. I’ve learned a great deal from them,” Babar noted.
During the interview, Babar also discussed the difficulties he faced before joining the Pakistan national team. He shared how, despite financial hardships, his family provided substantial support to help him pursue his cricketing dreams.
“I don’t come from a wealthy background, and money was not always available. However, my parents were very supportive. I played street cricket during my childhood, and it was quite challenging to play with a hard ball,” Babar said.
Under Babar’s captaincy, Pakistan has faced challenges in recent tournaments, including the Asia Cup 2023 and the ODI World Cup 2023. The team’s performance also declined in the T20 World Cup 2024, where they did not advance to the Super 8s.
Babar will lead Pakistan in the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh, starting on August 21 in Rawalpindi, with Shan Masood taking over the captaincy for this series.
