Government Halts Metro Bus Service

Metro bus service between IJP and Pak Secretariat in Islamabad and Rawalpindi has been suspended, causing major disruption for commuters. This suspension is part of security measures implemented in response to widespread political protests.

The protests, organized by major opposition parties including Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), focus on issues such as rising inflation, high electricity costs, and the detention of political figures. The Red Metro, Green Line, Blue Line, and Electric bus services have been fully suspended. However, the Orange Line remains operational from Faiz Ahmad Faiz to N5, although the Airport stop has been closed.

In preparation for these protests, authorities have enacted Section 144, which limits public gatherings. This has led to increased security and the decision to suspend the Metro bus service in critical areas of the capital.

While the Metro bus service is still running in Rawalpindi, from Faizabad to Saddar, the suspension in Islamabad has caused significant inconvenience for many daily commuters who depend on the service for their transportation needs.
